Deborah Hodgson

I have always enjoyed art and crafts but only started painting once I had given up work to start a family. Initially I joined a watercolour class which I enjoyed but found the results, at times, disappointing. I started experimenting with soft pastels and, later, with oils and acrylics. All of these I thoroughly enjoy as they are much more forgiving and suit my style of work.

I joined the Sutton Coldfield Society of Artists in the early 90s and exhibit with them each year in their spring and autumn exhibitions. I generally paint landscapes, attempting to capture the effect of light and colour on the subject matter but I am always looking for different inspiration. I've had paintings exhibited at the Patchings Festival together with the Friends of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. I held a solo show at the Highbury Little Theatre which was very successful. More recently a painting was accepted for exhibition at the Art Materials Live Show at the NEC in a competition run by the Leisure Painter magazine. I have had two very successful exhibitions at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens with a couple of fellow artists.

I have recently set up a website, the address of which, is : www.deborahhodgsonart.co.uk .
