Elva Brabham

After working in local radio for many years I took early retirement from what was a highly pressurised, busy but incredibly fun job. For a couple of years I "retired". Then suddenly I had the urge to create something and I started learning to draw and paint - after not being able to draw a straight line at school!

I had a wonderful tutor right from the start who always encouraged me to go "one step further" and eventually I joined several local art societies and began exhibiting my paintings.

Apart from several solo exhibitions, I regularly exhibit with:
Sutton Coldfield Society of Artists (SCSA)
Lichfield Society of Artists (LSA)

In June 2006 and 2007 I had two paintings selected - from over 1000 entries from the UK and overseas - to be exhibited at The Artist & Leisure Painter Patchings Art, Craft & Design Show held at Calverton near Nottingham.

Greetings cards are printed from my original paintings.

Flowers are my main subject, and I often visit open gardens as well as National Trust and Botanic gardens to gain inspiration.
